Although Scott's finished artwork is amazing, it is his sketches that speak me. They
help me to understand his design process.

Alternatively restyle your old TV room

We tend to concentrate on sexy flat screens, but if you only have a CRT it most certainly doesn't mean you can't have a kick ass media room. Above is Maude's space, first seen on ATNY. Maude was bored with her plain and beige wall, which she decided spice up with two tones

of wood grain contact paper...

A dream for art lovers

Imaging that you have a piece of land in a glorious location facing the sea and you can build a house and as you are an art lover you decide that you do not need an architect you want an artist. This would be a dream for some of us but Cesar Reyes made it reality,he built his home with the collaboration of Cuban artist Jorge Pardo.

The mosaics floors is in a degrade that changes every nine meters it stars in greens and blues indoor and finishes in red outdoor,it was though like a kaleidoscope.
And how not to love this pop kitchen and the caramel Eames chairs.

Complete artwork including big game
by Anneke Bokern | February 24, 2009
In 1953 a new commission landed on Gio Ponti's desk in Milan. Anala and Armando Planchart, a couple from Caracas, asked the Italian architect and designer to design a house for them. The Plancharts only knew his name from the magazine Domus which they had read for many years, and Ponti, who had just had an unpleasant experience with an Argentine client, was in no mood to take on a new assignment in South America. He did not even know exactly in which country Caracas was located.

Sanna Annukka for Marimekko

I'm so excited to see that illustrator Sanna Annukka has created fabric designs for Finnish design legend, Marimekko. Her inspiration for this range comes from the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala.

The Kanteleen kutsu design shows forest animals listening to folklore hero Väinämöinen playing a string instrument, made from the jawbone of a giant pike.

This print ranges over other highly covetable household items, like this tray, mugs and tea towels too.

The Taikamylly fabric (below) shows the Sampo, a wealth grinding magic mill, doing its work. I love the closeup version on a porcelain plate too.

Lastly, the Ihmemaa art print shows the landscape of Kaleva, the Land of Heroes, and Lake Alue, in whose depths a whitefish has swallowed fire fallen from the heavens.

See more of this collection, and other designers' work at the Marimekko website.

Screen Time

Requirement for my dream home #1: Light airy spaces. Preferably with elements to keep those spaces feeling even more open, like these fantastic screens...

As you can tell just by looking at my banner, I love simple repeated designs like the screens used in this home by, . Much more visually interesting than a wall!

While many cultures use this concept in their own traditional styles, the funny thing is that I'm drawn to them because it's such a Southern California thing (like the entrance to the Parker in Palm Springs!). The designs remind me of the cinder block fences and entrances around the neighborhood in Venice Beach where I grew up.

So, maybe it's an element of nostalgia that makes me really love this look? What do you think? Is it too retro for you, or just as cool as ever?
